A First Look at VSTS 2010
Just when you thought it was safe to start your learning journey on Visual Studio 2008, Microsoft once again is pushing new functionality out faster than most can keep up. Microsoft now has 400+ developers working on Visual Studio Team System and 2010 will be a “Big Release”.
Revealed at the PDC, the new product set introduces tons of new functionality throughout the suite. As part of the VSTS inner circle group we got to see the “lap around VSTS 2010″ presentation.
VSTS 2010 is particularly focused on much needed improvements in the testing and architecture tools areas, but includes numerous updates to the full line including Team Foundation Server; for example TFS scaling to multiple application and data tiers.
Why should you care?
Much of this release from a developer perspective is focused on what Microsoft calls “Developer Happiness” and is focused on productivity enhancements, making things that were once hard now easy, making code more easily maintainable and making the developer a more highly effective team member.
More to come including some screenshots. However right now I’m mostly looking at Windows Azure Services also introduced at PDC this week.
